We welcome you to spend the blessed last nights of Ramadan in worship, reflection, and community at Cypress Islamic Center. To ensure a spiritually beneficial and organized experience for everyone, please review the following guidelines before registering

Registration
  • Advance registration is required
  • Space may be limited
  • Participants must follow all Masjid guidelines
Arrival
  • Full 10-day participants must arrive before Maghrib on the 20th of Ramadan
  • Check in with the I‘tikaf coordinator upon arrival
  • Settle into your assigned area before Maghrib
Prayer Area Rules
  • Only water in sealed bottles is allowed in the Musallah
  • No food or drinks in prayer areas
  • Help keep the Musallah clean and organized
Conduct & Etiquette
  • Keep phones on silent
  • Use earphones for audio or media
  • Step outside if you need to take a call
What to Bring
  • Sleeping bag, blanket, or pillow. These should be easy to move around, foldables preferred
  • Personal hygiene items and medications
  • Extra clothing and phone charger
Personal Responsibility
  • Respect fellow participants
  • Clean up after yourself
  • You are responsible for your belongings and personal items

Eligibility & Registration

  • I‘tikaf participation requires advance registration.
  • Space may be limited based on facility capacity.
  • Participants must follow all Masjid guidelines and instructions from volunteers and leadership.

Arrival for Full 10-Day I‘tikaf

Participants intending to complete the full Sunnah I‘tikaf must:

  • Arrive before Maghrib on the 20th night of Ramadan
  • Check in with the I‘tikaf coordinator upon arrival
  • Settle into assigned areas before Maghrib

Meals

  • Iftar and Suhoor is provided on Fridays and Saturdays in the designated dining area. Please plan to have meals delivered to you on other days as Iftar is not usually provided on weekdays. If you do need iftar on weekdays, please let the administration know so we can arrange for it.
  • Food is not permitted inside the Masjid.
  • Only water in sealed bottles is allowed in prayer areas.

Conduct & Masjid Etiquette

To maintain a peaceful worship environment:

  • Keep phones on silent at all times
  • Use earphones for any audio
  • Step outside the prayer area if you need to take a call
  • Maintain a respectful and positive attitude toward others
  • Avoid unnecessary conversations in prayer areas

Cleanliness

Keeping the Masjid clean is a shared responsibility. Participants are expected to:

  • Clean up after themselves
  • Dispose of trash properly
  • Keep sleeping and personal areas organized

What to Bring

Participants staying overnight should consider bringing:

  • Sleeping bag, blanket, or pillow. These should be easy to move around. Foldables preferred.
  • Personal hygiene items
  • Medications and personal health items
  • Extra clothing
  • Phone charger
  • Small bag for personal belongings

Accommodation

Sleeping arrangements will be assigned based on registration type and availability.

Men

  • Partial I‘tikaf participants will stay in the designated Musallah area
  • Full 10-day participants may receive assigned spaces if available.
  • On Friday afternoons and taraweeh, we ask that you store your belongings in the back corner to allow space for prayers to be held.

Women

  • Women will stay in the designated women’s prayer area or assigned rooms

Participants should bring appropriate bedding for comfort.

Program Guidance

  • I‘tikaf will be overseen by designated Masjid coordinators and volunteers.
  • Religious questions should be directed to the Masjid Imam.
  • Participants should not initiate independent programs that may conflict with Masjid activities.

Personal Responsibility

Participants are responsible for:

  • Their personal belongings
  • Their health and medications
  • Following all Masjid safety guidelines

The Masjid is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Liability Notice

Participation in I‘tikaf is voluntary. By registering and attending, participants acknowledge that Cypress Islamic Center, its staff, volunteers, and leadership are not responsible for injuries, illness, or loss of personal belongings during the program.
